Servicing

To keep you and your family safe it’s important that you have your gas appliances checked and serviced regularly. (In fact it’s so important that, if you’re in rented accommodation, it’s a legal requirement for your landlord to have all gas appliances checked every year).

As well as being safer, regularly serviced appliances often cost less to run.

Chorlton Heating will professionally service all of your gas appliances to give you peace of mind and save you money.

We pride ourselves on giving you a time that we will visit so you’re not waiting in for ages and having to take half a day off work.

When should I have my gas appliances checked or serviced?:

The simple answer is “Regularly” !
However if at any time you notice any of the warning signs below please call us:

  • Your gas appliance is not working properly
  • Your appliance is burning with a lazy yellow flame instead of a crisp blue flame
  • You can see black marks or stains on or around your gas appliances
  • The pilot light keeps going out
  • There is increased condensation in the room

Central Heating Systems

Central Heating Systems corrode internally, when air is in the system, producing black iron oxide sludge deposits in radiators and other iron components. These particles stick to all surfaces, causing premature failure of pumps and valves, cold unbalanceable radiators, blocked boiler heat exchangers and hot water heating coils. Overall system efficiency is greatly reduced and fuel wasted.

Is your system noisy, radiators full of air and in need of bleeding all the time. Radiators take forever to warm up and most of the time never get warm all over?? Having the central heating pump replaced often and radiator valves are buzzing from time to time. Sounds like you need a power flush!!!

Power flushing is a highly effective cleansing operation which works by pumping water at a much higher velocity than usual through the heating system, to loosen and mobilise harmful corrosion deposits, and to suspend them in the rapidly moving water. The process is made more effective by specialist cleansing chemicals, an instantaneous flow reversal device which creates turbulence in the radiators to optimise 'pick up' of the debris, and a magnetic filter to clean the system water during the power flush.

Once loosened, the unwanted debris is purged from the system with clean water. At the end of the flushing process, the system contains fresh clean water, and reinstatement of the system to normal operation takes only a few minutes.

During the process, radiators are individually flushed, without removing or disconnecting them from the system, by directing the full output of the power flushing pump through each radiator separately.

The power flushing is not a high pressure operation, and it is suitable for most domestic wet central heating systems. It is carried out with minimal disturbance and disruption to the normal operation of the system, often without disconnecting the boiler or any radiators.
